4/11/14 Daily Devotion

Matthew 27:45-46 From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”–which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

At this point, Jesus had to feel like everyone within the world had forsaken Him. He had to feel as if no one cared, as if He were completely alone, so alone that even God was out of reach. We will never understand how He felt at this point, for it is not likely that we will have to experience crucifixion, but there are times when we feel like everyone has forsaken us, as if no one cares, as if we are completely alone to endure our circumstances. While Jesus might have felt alone, God never left His side. While Jesus might have felt forsaken by God, He was never alone. The same is true for all Christians. For all those who live for and call upon The Lord, there shall be no forsaking, for God will always be within the range of our voice or the reach of our hand.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, remove from me any doubt of Your presence within the hard moments of my life.
