4/15/14 Daily Devotion

Matthew 27:65 “Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.”

There was a concern that the followers of Jesus would come and steal His body, thus bringing forth the impression that He had risen from the dead. The posting of guards by Pilate was done in an effort to combat any trickery or deception by the followers of Jesus. But in the end, it was an unnecessary action, for Jesus did indeed rise from the dead. There was nothing Pilate could have done to prevent the will of God from happening. The same is not true within our lives. The will of God exists for each of us, and it is discernible, but it can be ignored. God allows us to understand His will for our lives, for if He didn’t what would be point of its existence? The problem lies in the fact that we often suppress the will of God for our own, and this is a serious issue. If we are going to be servants of Christ, if we are going to claim allegiance with God, it must become obvious within our lives. It must become evident by others.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me become a reflection of You in my daily life, so much so that no one will ever question the validity of my faith.
