4/17/14 Daily Devotion

Luke 24:12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

This had to be a difficult moment. When Jesus died it was heartbreaking. When His lifeless body was wrapped and placed in the tomb, their hearts broke even further. Now, to come to the tomb and find His body gone, for Him to be missing, this had to be a moment of utter pain and confusion. If all of the prior events brought Peter to the edge emotionally, this scene had to have pushed him over the emotional edge. He knew what Mary told him, but it just didn’t make sense, nothing made any sense. Life, at times, makes no sense. Life, at times, is very confusing. Life, at times, seems to be throwing us into a vicious cycle of emotional stress, but it doesn’t have to rule our lives. This doesn’t have to control our words and actions. Life will always be interesting, but we serve a God who will not leave us in the middle of stress or confusion alone. God is more than willing to take our hands and guide us through, but we must have enough faith to trust in Him.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me have enough faith to trust You in the midst of the stressful and/or confusing moments that will enter my life.
