5/10/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 1:22-23 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

The church is the body of Christ. It is made up of believers from all facets of life, believers from every station of life. The church is a unique entity in that it allows each member to help determine the course of its direction, the purpose of its existence. The church should also be the embodiment of God, the fullness of Him. Its existence should always be a beacon of light that shines in honor of Him, the edification of His people and the salvation of the lost. If the church is not the fullness of God, it is indeed the fullness of someone, someone who has allowed their opinions to rule, their desires to be followed. In such a case, the church is no longer a representation of an infallible God. It is a representation of fallible man.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, guide my thinking and desires into becoming a reflection of Yours.
