5/31/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

As Christians, we are given the privilege to approach God. God is our Father. God is our Friend. God loves us more than we deserve, but how do we approach Him with the respect He so rightly deserves? Paul shares some advice for us in today’s scripture reference, and in doing so opens up for us an avenue that we might have missed. Paul teaches us that we can approach God with confidence, and this is because of Jesus. The shed blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary allows us to come into the presence of God confidently, forgiven, and restored. We no longer have to approach Him as a sinner shaking in the reality of our sins. We no longer have to approach Him at a distance because we feel unworthy. Jesus changed all of that when He died on the cross. He changed all that when He died for the forgiveness of our sins. The death of Jesus, the gift of Jesus, allows us to approach God confidently because we have been sanctified and saved.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me have the confidence to approach Your throne and seek Your presence.
