6/21/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

When we think of holiness, we think of God, not ourselves. But as children of God, we are called to be holy just as God is holy. Now we will never actually be as holy as God, but our ambition is to become as holy as humanly possible. Our ambition is to put off our old selves, our old ways, our old desires, so much so that we become powerfully focused on God and become more like the person He expects. In this process, we will begin to become holy. In this process, as we rid our lives of all that is ungodly and replace it with the thoughts, attitude, desires, and hopes of God, our lives will transform into His image. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Shouldn’t that be the desire of our heart?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me have a powerful desire to become holy as You are holy.
