7/1/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 5:2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

It’s easy to love those who love us in return. It’s easy to love those who are members of our families or those with whom we have friendships. It’s even easy to love those we keep at a slight distance. But to love everyone, that’s just a little ridiculous. What happens if we do not express love? The expression of love to all does not mean that we have the same amount of love for all people. We are called to demonstrate the love of Christ within our lives, and this must be to all people. Are we then called to love at different levels? That question does not have as simple an answer. We are not going to love our friends as we do our family members. We are not going to love our family members as we do our spouses. The important thing here is the expression of love. We must let the love of Christ that lives within us flow out into this world toward everyone, toward everyone.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me express Your love powerfully within this world.
