7/5/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 5:15-17 Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Be careful. Be careful. Be careful; that’s all we hear. We heard those words from the moment we came into existence upon this earth. They were shared as we hit ourselves in the head with our rattles. They were said with a quivering tone when we took our first steps. They were offered when we went on our first sleep over. They were said with a tone of concern when we took the car out for the first time alone after getting our license. Paul now shares them with our eternity in mind. “Be very careful,” he says. Be very careful in how we live, how we act, how we present ourselves to this world. We must be careful because there is a negative power that seeks to hurt us, harm us, and pull us away from God. Satan is doing this simply because he knows what is in store for his eternity, and he wants to take as many of us with him as possible.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me carefully consider my presence within this world in comparison to Your expectations.
