8/19/14 Daily Devotion

James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Scriptures could not be clearer when it speaks of temptations. All Christians will experience temptations. All Christians will walk into trials, but God is not the designer of these temptations or trials. While God is not the author, He does allow them to occur. He does allow them to happen. Lucifer, Satan, the Devil, is behind all the evil that exists within this world, and that includes trials, and that does include temptations. If they are not a product of God, why then are they allowed to exist? The answer is simple, they exist because God allows them to exist. He allows them to exist because they serve as a greater purpose. They exist because they help us become more focused in our faith and more purposeful in our walk with Christ.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me see temptations and trials as opportunities to grow in my faith.
