8/2/14 Daily Devotion

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.

James had a drastic change of heart. He did not believe that his older brother was the Messiah. When he looked at Him, all he saw was his brother. Maybe their mother did favor Jesus more than the others. Maybe she elevated His existence a little more above the others. Maybe she even spoke of her encounter with the angel of God. But for James, even in the midst of all the maybes, there was still doubt. Things eventually changed, however. James had a change of heart, a change of attitude. Even though they had already spent many years together, he finally found his Savior, he finally met the Messiah. Change is not always easy, but sometimes it is necessary. James finally saw the truth, he finally saw Jesus not as a brother, but as his Lord. How do you see Jesus? Is He just another person who walked through history, or is He the One that has changed history for all eternity?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, change my heart in such a way that it reflects Your presence, Your power, and Your love.
