8/30/14 Daily Devotion

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Simply stated, but definitely not simply achieved. Nowhere in the Bible can one find a place where it states that being a Christian is easy. In fact, the exact opposite is proclaimed quite often. While being a Christian is difficult at times, the rewards are worth what we must endure, especially when you consider the eternal rewards. Taking care of those less fortunate is a fairly simple act to perform, but how often do we actually put forth an effort in this area? Not allowing the world to pollute us, to corrupt us, to carry us away from God, is much more difficult. But it is still attainable, if we allow God to become the central focus of our lives, if we allow God to become the Lord of our lives. Simply stated, definitely not simply achieved, but possible through God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me place You first within my life, allowing my trust and faith in You to guide me through all that life sets at my feet.
