9/5/14 Daily Devotion

James 2:6 But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?

When we choose the wealthy and influential over the poor and non-influential, we are insulting those that fall into the latter category. We are stating that they are not as important. We are stating that they are of least importance. When it comes down to the facts we know, that both rich and poor will utilize others to get what they feel they deserve, we also know that it is the rich who will see to this type of attitude more often. There can’t be many people who haven’t experienced a person of meager existence taking advantage of their circumstances in an attempt to receive something they desire. But as we gaze into society and the manner in which it has advanced, we see how the wealthy and greedy act as they seek to advance their own cause, their own existence. You must notice that the word greedy was added to wealthy, for it is in their greed that the wealthy take advantage of others. We must come to understand that there are generous people, people of higher stature, people of means, people that present themselves in a proper manner, people that reflect the ideology of God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me come to live in a manner that seeks to utilize all that I am and all that I have to glorify You.
