9/27/14 Daily Devotion

James 3:9-12 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Society has become a place of compromise and change. While this is good in some ways, it is not when we consider the Word of God. The messages on Sunday mornings are being watered down and transformed into political correctness. The lessons are minute in their content as to refrain from being too pushing with the Biblical instruction. Language that is being utilized by many Christians is reflective of the change and compromise that exists today. So many Christians are going to stand before God in judgment of their lives and find their fate. We cannot compromise, but we must change. When it comes to the Word of God, we must adhere to its standards. It boldly proclaims the use of improper language is not correct. It may seem like something small to us, but it’s important to God. Besides, would you rather be able to use a few colorful words here on earth or spend eternity in the presence of God?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me speak in a manner that glorifies You, in a manner that demonstrates Your presence within my life.
