9/29/14 Daily Devotion

James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

Humility is becoming a lost trait. People want to be acknowledged for their gifts, work, knowledge, and/or accomplishments, and rightly so to a point. If we have to ask for acknowledgment, if it’s the reason we serve, then we are seekers of praise. Seekers of praise find it difficult to do things in secret as the Bible declares. Seekers of praise find it hard to go through an entire day without receiving the proverbial pat on the back. There is nothing wrong with receiving acknowledgment for our achievements, as long as it was offered and not sought after.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me find enough joy in serving You that I do not need to seek the approval of others.
