11/28/14 Daily Devotion

Malachi 1:12-13 “But you profane it by saying of the Lord’s table, ‘It is defiled,’ and of its food, ‘It is contemptible.’ And you say, ‘What a burden!’ and you sniff at it contemptuously,” says the Lord Almighty. “When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the Lord.

Have you ever given a defective offering to God? In today’s society, we don’t think much about defective offerings, because our offering is usually in money, time, or both. In the days of the Old Testament, offerings were supposed to come from perfect animals, the best of the herd, but this was not the case for those whom Malachi was speaking to on behalf of God. Instead of the best, they were offering the defective, the crippled, those that mattered the least. God expects our best offering. He wants the best of our time, and the best of our finances. If we are going to offer God any less, then our offering is defective.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me offer You the best of my time and finances.
