11/6/14 Daily Devotion

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Is it easy to confess our sins to another person? Most might say, “sure.” But in reality, this is not true. We don’t want others to look down upon us. We don’t want others to think we are not living our lives correctly. We don’t want a negative impression of ourselves to flow into the mind of another person. Thus confessing our faults and frailties can be very difficult. We usually carry our issues around, allowing them to fester within our hearts as we try to hide them from the public eye or ear. Confession, especially to someone that will offer nonjudgmental guidance, can be very liberating. When we confess our sins to another, in confidence, it allows us to have an avenue to repair our lives, a way to restore our soul, a way to find forgiveness.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me confess my sins, so I might find forgiveness.
