11/8/14 Daily Devotion

James 5:19-20 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

There are times when we walk forward through life without a moment’s thought. We walk as if we know what we are doing, but instead we become engaged in activities that are not pleasing to God, activities that do not glorify His name. As we become more mature in the faith, these moments begin to fade, for we come to an understanding that their arrival is a possible detriment to our lives both spiritually and eternally. Maybe we were blessed by the intervention of a friend, one who came to guide us back upon the path that leads to righteousness. That’s exactly what we are called to do as Christians. We are called to be guides to the lost and to those that have become lost due to an incorrect decision, judgment, or lapse of faith. How many times have we stated that this person or that needs to be saved from their incorrect decisions? How many times have we prayed that God would intervene in someone’s life and lead them back to righteousness? Maybe nothing is happening because God expects us to answer the call, because God expects us to step in and lift them up into His presence.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me have the courage to correctly guide the lost into Your presence.
