12/9/14 Daily Devotion

Malachi 2:11 Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves, by marrying the daughter of a foreign god.

So many of us, when we first find salvation through Christ, walk powerfully forward, declaring Jesus as our Lord and Savior, but this excitement, unfortunately begins to fade after time passes. After time passes by, we change from being on fire for God to slowly reverting back towards our former ways. While we don’t usually revert completely back to our old ways, we walk a different path focused on things that have now taken priority in our lives. In essence, we begin to worship or idolize other things, activities, or people instead of God. We need to be careful and retain our perspective on our relationships with God. We cannot allow God to fall into the back of our thoughts or ideologies. We cannot allow Him to become anything other than the most important aspect of our lives.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me retain a powerful relationship with You at all times.
