1/5/14 Daily Devotion

Acts 1:1-2 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

Dr. Luke, in his former book, told the story of Jesus. He spoke about the entrance of Jesus into this world and the impact He had on the lives of those who were willing to accept Him and His teachings. In Acts, he shifts from the effects of Jesus to the effects of the disciples as they carry the message of Christ into the world. They have an amazing story. It’s a story of joy and sadness. A story of fruitfulness and struggles. A story that changes lives. We also have an amazing story to share, a story that will bring Christ into the lives of those who cross our paths. A story that will demonstrate our willingness to enjoy the times of plenty and endure the times of hardship. A story that will show the benefits of serving God and living for the sake of the gospel. But our story is only as good as our witness; it’s only as good as our willingness to live purposefully in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me share my story of salvation in such a powerful manner that others see Your presence within my life.
