1/22/15 Daily Devotion

Acts 2:7-8 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?

The proof is in the pudding. Have you ever heard that phrase? It’s an interesting phrase, because we could probably be certain that no one has ever checked pudding to find the truth of anything. What it means is simple; what it is trying to convey is powerful. The truth is relatively simple enough to be found within the scope of the subject and/or topic at hand. It gets confusing when we add information or opinions from the outside. What happened on the Day of Pentecost is simple as we read and understand the Word of God as it is presented. The crowd was utterly amazed because their eyes were seeing Galileans while their ears were hearing their native languages. It’s simple, to the point, and precise. To try and say it was anything else shows our true intentions. We change the Word of God, because we want it to fit into our lives, but this is not how it works at all. We are to change our lives to fit into the declarations of God’s Word. We are to alter our lives. The Word should never be altered; it should always remain the pure, powerful Word of God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me seek to follow the exactness of Your Word and not the ideas of my own heart.
