1/26/15 Daily Devotion

Acts 2:14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.

Peter notices the varying responses and begins to bring forth an amazing interjection. Peter wants them all to understand, but he also wants their undivided attention. He’s not being overbearing. He’s not being controlling. He wants to understand what has happened, but he also knows they won’t understand unless they are willing to pay close attention. Unfortunately, we have this issue every Sunday. People enter the church, sit in the pew and become lost in their own thoughts, lost in events that will happen after the service is over. They lose their focus, and they do not receive the full power of the message, the full force of God’s movement. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything to force people to pay attention, but we must put forth an effort to see that we have done all that we can in an attempt to help them receive the power found within the message of God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me set out to bring Your message of salvation in such a manner that others have a powerful desire to receive this information.
