2/9/15 Daily Devotion

Acts 3:1-2 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer–at three in the afternoon. Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.

Two important things happen in these verses, two things that we should emulate within our lives. We must first take note of the importance of prayer. Peter and John were going to the temple to pray at the designated hour. They knew the importance of prayer, and they allowed it to remain an important part of their lives. The next important aspect we need to understand centers around friendship. A crippled man was carried into a position which gave him the opportunity to beg for assistance from those entering the temple gate. He was brought there by his friends, and this action allowed him the opportunity to seek a way to bring about a financial blessing into his family. Prayer and friendship are important aspects of life. They both bring about a positive attitude. They both bring about change. They both alter the current and future status of our existence. Everyone needs to come before God in prayer. Everyone needs the blessings of true friendship.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me embrace the importance of prayer and friendship, knowing that both of them have the power to alter my existence.
