2/28/15 Daily Devotion

Acts 4:21-22 After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened. For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.

The man had been crippled for more than forty years. People had watched him beg for assistance at the temple gates for many years in an attempt to bring provisions into his family. A multitude knew him and his circumstances, thus making it harder for the religious leaders to thwart the results of this miracle. They threatened Peter and John. They wanted to punish them, but they couldn’t decide what could be done, because the people were standing on the side of God, offering Him praise and glory for the miracle that had happened, for the change in this man’s life. How could they punish Peter and John without receiving arguments from the crowd? How could they step in front of this movement, while it was moving at such a powerful pace? No one can stand in the way of God. Nothing can stop that which God has ordained. If we are following the will of God, we cannot go wrong. We cannot be stopped. If is the essential word in those statements. If, if we are following God. If we are seeking to serve God in every way. If we are striving to put Him first within our lives. Is your life filled with ifs, or have you chosen to take a stand?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me choose to live for You, even as this world turns against You.
