Daily Devotion 3/12/15

Acts 5:1-2 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.

Ananias and Sapphira knowingly deceived the disciples. They purposefully went before the leaders of the church and lied about the amount of money they had received from the sale of their property. They wanted to share, as all the others were doing, but they wanted to keep some of the profit for themselves. They knowingly, purposefully deceived others for personal gain. Try as we might, all that we do is known by at least One. God knows everything we have done and everything we will do in the future. Knowing this to be the truth, knowing this to be a powerful perspective on our actions, shouldn’t we be more careful? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about our daily thoughts and actions? Shouldn’t we come to realize that everything we do sets the standard within our lives, everything we do determines our eternal placement?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me realize that I cannot hide anything from You, not my actions, words, or even my thoughts.
