Daily Devotion 3/14/15

Acts 5:11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

News spread fast in regard to Ananias and Sapphira. Their deception became a hot topic of discussion and concern. Those who observed their instantaneous death were changed forever. Those who witnessed their death never again looked at their own lives in the same manner. They began to consider more often the implications of their actions, the implications of their attitudes, for they did not want the end of their lives to emulate that of Ananias and Sapphira. That which happened to Ananias and Sapphira demonstrates the need for a healthy fear of God. Some believe that this fear should be comparable to a seizing of our senses. In a way, they are correct. This fear should not take over our senses, but it should heighten them to the point where we become aware of the exactness of our actions, where we become aware of the manner in which we present our lives to this world. Who we are is important, but how we act is more important. What we have is important, but where we will spend eternity is more important.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me understand the importance of living my life in the manner You desire.
