Daily Devotion 3/26/15

Acts 6:5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.

The assembly agreed with the need to delegate the care of the widows. They agreed that those who served in this position needed to be filled with the Spirit and dedicated to God within their own personal lives. They agreed, and from among them they brought forth a group of men that filled this criteria, a group of men that were willing to work for Jesus. The positions within a church or ministry are vital to its health and wellbeing. Thus it is important that we place people in these positions that are not only qualified but also faithful to God, people that place God’s will before their own. The Bible also teaches that there are some positions that must be addressed more carefully than others and with more mature/seasoned Christians that have been a part of the fellowship longer. Otherwise, they might become conceited.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me seek to serve the church as You desire.
