Daily Devotion 4/15/15

Acts 8:31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

The eunuch was reading the words of the prophet Isaiah, but he was having a difficult time understanding the meaning behind their existence. Through the prompting of the Spirit, Philip had approached the chariot, and having asked if there was an understanding, was invited to sit with the eunuch. Several things are prevalent in this passage, they both center around willingness. Without Philip’s willingness to follow the prompting of the Spirit, without his willingness to be used by God, the eunuch may have continued down his journey lost in the words of Isaiah. As servants of God, we must be willing to reach into the lives of others and help them understand the truth of the gospel. We must be willing to give them all the time that they need, so they may find scriptural understanding that may lead them to salvation. Someone did that for us; we need to do the same for others.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me do my part in reaching this world with Your gospel.
