Daily Devotion 4/22/15

Acts 9:4-5 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

Some might read these words and ask, “How did Saul know it was the Lord?” The answer, for some, might be considered complex, but it’s not. Saul knew it was the Lord because of what was happening and the feelings that were running through his body. Saul heard and felt the presence of God. He didn’t have to be told who it was, because he wanted to experience God, and so he did. His actions, while ungodly, were of a genuine effort to do the will of God, to keep the name of God holy. Saul missed the mark. Even though he was aiming, he missed. Sometimes, we fall short of what we should be doing for God because we are not listening to Him. In the case of Saul, God had to do something extreme to get his attention. What does God need to do to get your attention?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me focus my life on You at all times, so I will come to understand exactly what You would have me do upon this earth.
