Actions Are Born Out Of Beliefs

Our actions are born out of our beliefs. Example: You believe your car is safe to drive, which is evident by the fact that you get behind the wheel, even though a car accident happens every 60 seconds totaling a massive 5.25 million accidents world wide ( Source: USA Coverage).

One more example: When you go to church, you believe that the pew or seat you sit in will hold your full body weight, which is evident by your leftover print on your favorite spot.

So, where is all of his going? How does this relate to our lives as Christians? Well, it’s actually pretty simple. If our actions are truly born out of our beliefs, what we do would reflect said beliefs, especially when it comes to God.

If we claim to be servants of the Most High God but there is no evidence to this fact, we have not allowed ourselves to truly believe in God.

If Jesus is the Lord of our lives, it will become known by what we do, what we say, and how we present the totality of ourselves within this world. In other words, we won’t have to make a loud declaration pass through our lips, for our actions will speak loudly enough about the contents of our hearts.

So, I guess it comes down to a heart wrenching question: What actions are born out of your beliefs?

Because of Him,

The NIrV Minecrafters Bible

Getting our children to read the Bible is essential to their growth and witness as Christians, but finding the resources to bring this idea to fruition is almost impossible, until now. Through the inspiration of the amazingly popular game Mindcraft, Zondervan has designed The Mindcrafters Bible.

This Bible contains all 66 books, Old & New Testaments, in the easy to understand, NIrV translation, a translation that is geared towards a younger audience. The amenities to this Bible are simple, as it is not designed to be an in depth study tool. Included inside are the following: a minute NIrV dictionary, defining a limited amount of words, and a section entitled Great Bible Stories. In this particular section readers can find a list of 92 important Biblical stories and their locations within the scriptures.

The central reasoning behind this Bible is centered around the 24, unofficial pages of content for gamers and fans of the game Mindcraft. Each colorfully illustrated page gives ideas of things that can be created within the game, based on stories within the Bible. One such example, found after page 952 and before page 953 centers around the Armor Of God. Along with a brief discussion about the Amor of God, including the scripture reference, the reader is then given and idea that can be utilized within the actual game, such as, in this case, creating the strongest suit of amor possible.

This Bible has the capability of turning a sluggish reader of scripture into one who turns its pages every day, thus it is a highly recommend for anyone, boy or girl, who loves to play Mindcraft.

40 Nights: Faith vs Fear

As with most books that have been converted into movies we expect those creating the film to utilize what could be termed as creative license, in which they alter some of the books contents to produce a better visual representation on the “Big Screen” while trying to stay true to the original content. 40 Nights is not much different in this respect.

40 Nights is centered around the temptations of Jesus, as brought forth through the gospels, (Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13 & Luke 4:1-13). It tells of the time, 40 days, that Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness at the beginning of His ministry. In order to bring more content to the screen, they utilize cut scenes, scenes that take Jesus back in His mind, to things that had happened up to that moment in His life.

The cut scenes ring forth various ages of Jesus forming a small, brief depiction of what His life, some of the aspects not found in scripture, was like growing up as the awaited Messiah. While many of the scenes hold true to the Bible, numerous utilize that which was mentioned earlier, creative license.

In the whole, the movie was very interesting, but some scenes were slightly inaccurate as compared to scripture. The movie begins with the baptism of Jesus. This is a well known aspect of scripture, especially for Christians, but it is not an accurate representation of the gospels. 40 Nights gives the impression that John didn’t recognize the fact that Jesus was the Messiah until after He was baptized.

Matthew’s gospel is the only one that describes the scene before Jesus was baptized. Matthew 3:13-15 (NIV) Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. Thus we can see in scripture that John saw and knew that Jesus was the Messiah before His baptism.

There are a few other questionable aspects, including that idea that Satan turned into a woman and tempted Jesus with pleasure, the idea that Satan knew that Jesus was going to give up His life as a sacrifice for our sins, and the idea that Jesus found a lamb during His temptations and named it Moses.

While there are a few concerns with this production, it has the capability to bring forth the movement of God’s Spirt in anyone blessed to be watching. This is a recommended purchase for personal viewing or even as a gift, but make sure your Bible is within reach so the movie contents can be verified.

40 Nights, as well as many other wonderful Christians materials, can be purchased at
