7/11/13 Daily Devotion

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Our relationship with God should cause us to live powerfully for Him. All that God has done through Jesus should cause us to live a powerfully for Him. Knowing that God will be at our side every step of the way, we should be moved to powerfully live for Him. When we think about all that God has done for us, we should be moved to take a powerful stand, a stand that shows this world how much we appreciate and respect Him. That’s essentially what it is all about. If we truly understand the magnitude of God’s presence within our lives, if we truly appreciate all that He has done for us, if we are grateful for His future actions within our lives and the lives of those we love, then we will demonstrate this by taking a stand, a stand that declares our allegiance to Him above all else. Does your life show this world how much God has done for you and the extent of your love for Him?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I want my life to become a memorial to Your presence within me. Help me make this become a reality.

3/28/13 Daily Devotion

1 Corinthians 15:55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

When a loved one passes, we are stung by their loss. They had an effect upon our lives, so it makes sense that their absence would bring hardship. But for those who live for Christ, this is but momentary, for death sees no victory. Christians mourn losses just as everyone else does, but with one major difference. For the Christian, death is not the end. For the Christian, it is the beginning of a glorious eternity within the presence of Jesus. For the Christian, death brings a sting to those we leave behind. But for us, it brings us into the reward we have been working towards.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I know that death brings pain, but it also brings us into Your presence. Help prepare me for that moment when I cross from this world into the eternal.
