John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The evidence of God’s love for mankind is seen within the precious gift of Jesus. This familiar verse is very interesting, especially when you consider the meaning behind one small, simple word, found within the verse. It’s seemingly insignificant, but holds the key to the power of God’s love for ALL mankind. The word is “so.” For God SO loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. God loves mankind SO much that He gave one of the most precious things in His possession, His Son. How many of us would give up that much? God’s love for mankind cannot be underestimated, nor can it be ignored. Our lives, the way we live, the way we act, the way we speak, should all be a reflection of how much God loves each of us. He gave gave abundantly through Jesus. Are we giving in honor of Him?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I am so grateful for Your demonstration of love through Jesus. Please help me show this world how much His sacrifice means to my life.

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ”

In order for us to enter the kingdom of God, we must be born again. When Jesus shared this with Nicodemus, he was truly confused. Nicodemus understood being born as one’s entrance into this world, so being born again carried his mind into a place of confusion. To be born again is to be born of Christ. It is to give up yourself to Him. It is to be baptized for the remission of your sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, but it doesn’t end at this point. To be born again is to walk upon a different path in life. It is to see and embrace the necessity to become more of a reflection of   Jesus and less of the world. To be born again is to embrace a lifestyle that matters to God, a lifestyle that will carry others to the foot of the cross where they will also find salvation. Have you been born again? Are you living like you have been born again?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me overcome my sinfulness and begin to live powerfully for You within this life You have given me.
