9/24/13 Daily Devotion

Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Christ came that we should become His followers. He came to bring us salvation through His shed blood on the cross of Calvary. He came that we might have the opportunity to receive forgiveness of our sins because of His actions. He came that we might have the opportunity to reach for a better life. He came that we might become better people, thus bringing blessing into this world, His blessings. This life we have been given can make such a vast difference within this world if we would just walk within the Word and display it through our actions. So many people are lost, and we can be the light they need to find Jesus. If we will embrace Him powerfully within our own lives, others will follow.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, show me how I can become a guide for others to follow, that they might find and receive You.

7-1-13 Daily Devotion

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

While no one likes to consider himself a sinner, that is exactly what we must come to understand. We are sinners and deserve the results of our choices. We are sinners and deserve the results of our decisions. While the wages of sin is eternal separation from God in the confines of Hell, God does not want us to reside there for all eternity. It is the desire of God for each of us to accept His gift, the gift of eternal life with Him through the shed blood of His Son. Many will reach for and accept this offer, while even more will walk away without any concern about tomorrow, for they are living within the moment, and that is all that matters. They are not worried about the moment their lives will end, because their lives seems to be so vibrant. But to all an end of life will come, and what are we to do then but live the eternity that our life’s choices bring. Where are your actions preparing to take you for all eternity?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me wisely walk within this world, reaching for Your wisdom and seeking Your ways.

3/27/13 Daily Devotion

Romans 6:9-10 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. [10] The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

Our conception of death is directly related to our understanding of life. We understand that life has a point of beginning, thus it must have a point of ending. A beautiful flower will remain so only until its appointed end arrives. A family pet is born and adored, until it departs and brings sadness. Even our automobiles have a moment of conception and a point of death. While all things have a point of entrance and a place of release, there is life for humans after death, and after this death will come no more. After our removal from existence within this world, after we stand before God in judgment, we shall live eternally and never taste death again. Some believe that this is true of those who enter into Heaven, but not for those who enter into Hell. They believe that we will be punished for our sins then relieved of our existence yet again to suffer no more. This could not be farther from the truth. Once we cross from this world into the eternal, we shall exist for all eternity, but where we exist is completely up to us. Where are your actions carrying you into eternity?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I understand that as I depart this life, I will live for all eternity. Help me prepare myself to live with You and not within the pain and suffering of Hell.

7/3/12 Daily Devotion

Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

God’s desire for us is to live new lives, lives that have been born out of forgiveness, lives that have been set free through baptism, lives that have been released through the shed blood of His Son, Jesus. If we were buried with Him through baptism, then we should walk within this proclamation. If our sins have been forgiven, then we should share this great news with all who will listen. If we have been given a new chance at life, we should be willing to share this truth with this world through our lives. The gift of God that is salvation is not one that can be kept silent within those who have been truly changed by Him. Is your witness understood and seen, or is it kept under a bushel?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, make me a vocal servant, one that can be heard sharing Your love.
