2/25/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 3:8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: All nations will be blessed through you.

Some people might show some signs of hesitancy when it comes to their obedience in regards to the law and God. In one respect, we must be followers of man’s laws, for if we are not there will be dire consequences to follow. But what if these laws are contrary to the precepts of God? The answer is simple: the precepts of God trump the law of man. With that said, we have reached a point where we shall find a powerful understanding. God will not ask us to disregard any earthly law unless it blatantly goes against the truth of His Word. Will God ask us to speed to reach the lost faster? NO. Will God ask us to steal to provide for someone’s need? NO. Will God ask us to use inappropriate language so we can blend in more? NO. God has ordained faith for all people over law, but it’s up to us to decide upon which side of the line we will take a stand.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me follow You above all else within my life. Help my life be a beacon of light that shows this world Your presence.

2/12/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Serving God and pleasing men are not one in the same. When we live to serve others, we place our concern for the desires of God in the background. When we live to serve others, we forget about doing what is right and do what we need to in order to please the person or persons that we are trying to satisfy. Serving God is a lifestyle. It is a moment by moment decision that we choose to make. It is a decision that not only changes our lives, but also the lives of those who cross our paths. Who are you trying to please? What is the purpose of your life?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me live a life that is focused on You, a life that demonstrates my desire to serve You.

7/23/12 Daily Devotion

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ”

In order for us to enter the kingdom of God, we must be born again. When Jesus shared this with Nicodemus, he was truly confused. Nicodemus understood being born as one’s entrance into this world, so being born again carried his mind into a place of confusion. To be born again is to be born of Christ. It is to give up yourself to Him. It is to be baptized for the remission of your sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, but it doesn’t end at this point. To be born again is to walk upon a different path in life. It is to see and embrace the necessity to become more of a reflection of   Jesus and less of the world. To be born again is to embrace a lifestyle that matters to God, a lifestyle that will carry others to the foot of the cross where they will also find salvation. Have you been born again? Are you living like you have been born again?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me overcome my sinfulness and begin to live powerfully for You within this life You have given me.
