11/27/12 Daily Devotion

Matthew 2:5-6 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’ ”

A “shepherd for my people,” that’s what God brought into this world. What an amazing gift! It was a gift that the world did not deserve, but a gift that was greatly needed. A Shepherd to lead the people, a Shepherd that would be the sacrificial lamb. The greatest gift anyone could hope to receive, the greatest gift any one person could ever give, His life for our sins. This offering, this gift, this sacrifice came with a great cost. The question for us is this: Do our lives demonstrate to God our gratitude for this glorious Gift, this wonderful Savior, this beautiful sacrifice?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me live in such a way as to reflect my gratitude for Your willingness to come into this world for the forgiveness of my sins.
