6/4/14 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

Paul wanted the Ephesians to have a powerful relationship with God. He wanted them to be grounded in their faith and powerfully focused in their existence. He wanted them to live intentionally for the sake of God and in reflection of that which God did for them through Christ, and this comes from the indwelling of Christ. Paul prayed that Christ would dwell within their hearts through their faith. In other words, he prayed that their lives would be so focused on Jesus that He would take up residence within their lives, that He would become the essence of their existence. This should be the desire and/or prayer of all Christians. We should all desire to have Christ dwell within our hearts in such a way that He becomes the driving force of our existence. We should all desire to have Him become the most important aspect of our existence. We should; but is it actually happening, or are we getting in the way?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me have a powerful desire to be filled with Your presence, to be filled with Your Spirit.
